A massive search and rescue mission is underway and least 75 people have died after a 6.3 magnitude earthquake struck 20km southeast of Christchurch at around 1pm local time on Tuesday. The quake, which was an aftershock of a 7.1 magnitude quake which struck the South Island city on September 4, 2010, has seen damage and fatalities far exceeding those of the original.
